Join noted wine educator Cecil Flentge for 2 weeks in beautiful New Zealand experiencing amazing wineries, fabulous restaurants and exciting activities. This will be a small group tour that starts in Auckland and ends in Queenstown. Immerse yourself in the major wine regions of both the North and South Island.

MAR 9–FLY USA TO NEW ZEALAND
Depart  via Los Angeles when
you board the services of Air New Zealand in
economy class.
MAR 10 –CROSS INTERNATIONAL
DATELINE

MAR 11– AUCKL AND
Arrive in Auckland, the “City of Sails,” where
you will be met by your driver/guide and taken
on a city sights tour. Check in to your hotel and
enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Your
driver/guide will be on hand to suggest places
to go and things to see.
Accommodations: Grand Chancellor Auckland
City (2 nights)
MAR 12 WAIHEKE ISLAND TOUR
Breakfast at the hotel.
Walk to the pier from the hotel and board a
Fullers ferry for the 35 minute ride to Waiheke
Island.
In the heart of  Auckland’s sparkling Hauraki
Gulf, Waiheke Island is a picturesque blend of
farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive
groves. Upon arrival you will be met for your
driver/guide for a deluxe Waiheke Island Vineyards
Tour. You will visit 3 of Waiheke Island’s
finest vineyards for premium tastings, and enjoy
the wild landscape along the way. This evening
enjoy dinner at Vino Vino Restaurant before
heading back to Auckland via ferry.
MAR 13 AUCKLAND TO ROTORUA

Breakfast at the hotel
Today head south to trace New Zealand’s
longest river, the Waikato, to the Waitomo
Caves to visit the amazing Glow Worm Grotto.
A local guide will lead you through the grotto
by boat and you’ll walk in the limestone caves.
Your journey continues to Rotorua. On arrival an
orientation tour takes in views of Lake Rotorua.
Tonight experience The Realm of Tane and then
you are invited to a Maori Hangi feast and
concert at the Tamaki Family Marae.

MAR 14 NAPIER
Breakfast at the hotel.
Travel to Napier, the Art Deco City. Upon arrival
your local Napier guide takes you on a two-hour
walking tour showcasing the architectural
highlights.
Napier was rebuilt in the early 1930s, following
an earthquake which measured 7.8 on the
Richter scale. The new buildings reflected the
styles of the times – Stripped Classical, Spanish
Mission, and Art Deco – as well as incorporating
some unique Maori motifs.
We will then head to Craggy Range Winery for
a wine tasting and tour. Afterwards there will be
a dinner for the group at the winery at your own
expense.
Early Booking Bonus: For complete deposits

Craggy Range Winery will be free and will
include free wine pairing with the entrée.

MAR 15 HAWKE’S BAY
Breakfast at the hotel.
The Hawke’s Bay region has been making wine
for over 100 years, making it New Zealand’s
oldest wine region. Over 80 per cent of the
country’s plantings of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
and Syrah grapes are grown here, earning
the region an established reputation for producing
high quality red wines. This is the second
largest wine-growing area in New Zealand.
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the region, visiting
Crab Farm Winery, Mission Estate Winery,
Church Road Winery and Brookfield Vineyard.
Enjoy a winery lunch at your own expense.
Return to Napier for free evening.
MAR 16 HASTINGS and MARTINBOROUGH
WINERIES
Breakfast at the hotel.
We depart Hawke’s Bay and make our way
south through the Martinborough region. En
route to Wellington, we will stop to tour the
orchards at Pernel Fruitworld in Hastings and
will also visit several Martinborough area wineries,
including Martinborough Vineyard, Porter’s
Pinot, Croft Wine and Ata Rangi. Enjoy dinner
on your own in Wellington.
Accommodations: Mercure Hotel Wellington
MAR 17 -WELLINGTON
Breakfast at the hotel.
Enjoy the day in this capital city. Wellington is
a compact city nestled between an expansive
harbor and bush-clad hills. The center is ideal
for walking around with all shopping, cafes,
transport, accommodation and attractions
close to each other. Wellington is home to the
interactive Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa
Tongarewa, numerous art galleries and national
treasures such as the original Treaty of Waitangi
document and writer Katherine Mansfield’s
birthplace.
We will check out of the hotel in the morning but
leave bags in storage so that you will have the
day free for sightseeing and shopping.

Meet back at the hotel in time to drive to the pier
and board the evening ferry to Picton, enjoying
dinner on board the ferry as we say goodbye to
the North Island and head for the South Island.
Your driver/guide will meet the ferry and escort
you to tonight’s accommodation in Blenheim.

MAR 18- MARLBOROUGH WINERIES

Breakfast at the hotel.
Today we head out of Blenheim to tour the
wineries of New Zealand’s most famous wine
region: Marlborough. Stretching between the
Richmond Ranges and Wairau Plains is New
Zealand’s largest wine-growing region, specializing
in sauvignon blanc grapes. Its long ripening
season also produces superb aromatics,
elegant chardonnays, and rich pinot noirs. We
will tour Cloudy Bay, Allan Scott, Framingham,
and Nautilus Wineries. In the afternoon we will
travel to Herzog Winery for an estate tour before
sitting down to a 5-course Degustation with
matching Herzog Wines with each course.
MAR 19-BLENHEIM TO CHRISTCHURCH VIA TRAIN
Breakfast at the hotel.
This morning we will see the sights of Blenheim
on a coach tour and visit St. Clair Winery if time
permits before boarding the early afternoon
Tranzcoastal Train for the journey to Christchurch.
Enjoy the beautiful views of mountains
and coastline while you relax in comfort as the
train makes the 4-hour journey south.
Enjoy dinner on your own in Christchurch, known
as the ‘Garden City’, the South Island’s largest
city and New Zealand’s second largest city with
a population of approximately 350,000.

MAR 20 CHRISTCHURCH TO QUEENSTOWN VIA AIR
Breakfast at the hotel.
This morning you will be transferred to Christchurch
Airport for your onward flight to Queenstown.
Upon arrival you will be escorted to your
hotel and have the balance of the day at leisure.
Queenstown sits on the shore of crystal clear
Lake Wakatipu surrounded by the Remarkables
Ranges. Known as the “Adventure Capital” there
are many things to see and do. Dinner at leisure.
Accommodations: Millennium Hotel (2 nights)
MAR 21 – CENTRAL OTAGO WINERIES
Breakfast at the hotel.
Today we will make our final wine region visit
to the Central Otago region, the only region
in New Zealand to experience a continental
climate, having the hottest summers and coldest
winters in New Zealand. It is one of the newest
wine regions and boasts many boutique properties,
producing pinot noirs, chardonnays, and
Rieslings. Today our tour will take us to Felton
Road Winery, Amisfield Winery, Peregrine
Winery, and Carrick Winery.
This evening we will board the TSS Earnslaw,
New Zealand’s oldest steamship for a tour of
Lake Wakatipu and have a farewell dinner at
the Colonel’s Homestead at Walter Peak High
Country Farm on the western edge of the lake.
The steamship will return us to downtown Queenstown
after dinner.
MAR 22–DEPART FOR USA
Breakfast at the hotel.
This morning you will be transferred to Queenstown
Airport for your onward flight via Auckland
to Los Angeles.
